No. Why?
1. Of course, a few people get the sack because
they are just no good at the job or have a
fight with their manager or regularly turn
up drunk, or cause serious damage or loss
to the company and its reputation. But for
most unemployed people there are usually much
bigger forces involved.. Unemployment is something
that comes with a free market. At some times
there will be more people unemployed than
at others. But there will always be some unemployment.

2. Your job may have been redundant - no
longer necessary to society or to the company
you worked for. But remember it is your job
that was redundant, not you. You are still
a member of society, with skills, knowledge
and experience that is valuable somewhere
to someone.
Most unemployed people who can't get jobs
find it difficult for the reasons given. They
may live and work where the jobs are being
lost, and not where the jobs are being created.
They may need retraining to be able to apply
for a new job, or they may have to move house.
Or the business they're in just happens to
be in the doldrums right now and will take
a year or two to recover. Or employers may
be discriminating against them unfairly.
So don't assume that it's your fault you're
unemployed. That doesn't help you get a job
but at least you don't have to start out handicapped
with a load of guilt!
But just because it's not your fault doesn't
mean there's nothing you can do about it...
