A mining rescuer is a worker who performs or manages work when rescuing human lives and preventing major damage during mining accidents and disasters.

The work is carried out in underground or strip mines: a lot of dust and dirt must be expected, as well as noise. The work is done in shifts and is generally dangerous.

   The tools of work are various types of mining rescue equipment.

   In order to carry out successfully the tasks of this occupation, the applicant must be trained, have the ability to react quickly, organisational skills, physical fitness and agility.

problems that need special care with food and diet – e.g. diabetes or food allergies
tendency to fits or fainting – e.g. severe epilepsy, diabetes, severe anaemia
sight defects - e.g. very short sight or astigmatism, if your sight can’t be fully corrected with glasses or contact lenses
hearing defects - when your problem can’t be corrected with some kind of hearing aid
