Who are they and what do they do? The landscape architect prepares architectural designs for gardens, parks, orchards, motorway verges, and similar areas.
What are the activities of the job? The designs cover various garden structures, decorative and utility objects, planting of shrub and flowers, as well as the overall concept of the garden or park. A landscape architect also selects suitable materials and plants, and submits requests for the necessary purchases. S/he calculates the cost of the designs and proposals and sometimes also oversees their implementation. In addition to preparation of complete designs, s/he also provides consultancy services to those who themselves start or renovate gardens, parks or orchards.
Where is it done and under what conditions? Both in studios and in gardens and parks and elsewhere outdoors where landscaping is required.
What tools/equipment do they use? Information technology and other office equipment, and drawing aids.
What do you need to succeed? You need a university degree, creative aptitude and a sense of the aesthetic and good social and communication skills.
