Who are they and what do they do? Workers in recycling services

What are the activities of the job? Accepting (occasionally buying), sorting, compressing and storing various raw material to be recycled (paper, metals, textiles, glass, plastic material, rubber), operating crushing equipment similar machinery. In some countries the worker may also be involved in collecting recyclable materials from houses and businesses in a local area or this may be an additional, separate job.

Where is it done and under what conditions? At recycling centres, where a good deal of dirt and dust must be expected.

What tools/equipment do they use? Recycling bins, bags and other containers, compressing and lifting equipment, transport vehicles or systems, `brooms, and other similar hand tools, including heavy duty gloves and protective clothing.
