Who are they and what do they do? The task of the nursery school teacher is to take care of pre-school children, to ensure their safety and to develop their personality, interests, and skills.

What are the activities of the job? Planning activities for the children during their stay in the nursery school - developing children's abilities and skills by various activities (for example mental, language, physical, artistic, musical abilities and skills etc.) - depending on the age group of the children: trying to extend the children's perception and understanding of the world around them, and inculcating healthy and hygienic habits; pre-school education is prescribed in the last year before full school attendance - paying special attention to some children - reading stories, telling, singing, and learning rhymes, etc. - organising children's games and other activities - organising children's activities, including eating or sleeping - going for a walk with children - in cooperation with parents and other colleagues, solving the behavioural problems of individual children, their eating habits and health, etc. and trying to improve it - ensuring the safety of children, supervising their activities constantly - care of the interior of the rooms for children and care of toys, games, construction sets, books and other equipment, filing proposals to add new items to this.

Where is it done and under what conditions? Primarily in play rooms for children, in school gardens, playgrounds, in parks, etc. - without the work environment having any particular problems except for occasional exposure to changing weather.

What tools/equipment do they use? Primarily toys, plays, books, writing and drawing supplies, sometimes video and audio equipment, and, above all, the spoken word.

What do you need to succeed? You need to have completed secondary vocational education with a school-leaving certificate, positive attitudes to small children, ability to exercise authority, a certain talent for teaching, the ability to improvise, ability to use words, and a good memory.
