Who are they and what do they do? Workers in these industrial sectors carry out basic tasks associated with the formation of metals and the production of metal parts. They may have a variety of job titles, e.g. metal products machine operator, foundry worker, or machine operator for metal processing and so on. What are the activities of the job? A worker in the metal or metallurgical industry produces cables, chains, pins, springs, welding electrodes and other parts, and prepares materials for metallurgical production. A worker in the foundry industry carries out less qualified jobs in casting metal products: shaking out, grinding and cleaning the casting; s/he also loads metal into melting devices, prepares mixtures for mould production, etc. Where is it done and under what conditions? In metallurgical or foundry workshops and factories, where dirt, noisiness and high temperatures must be expected. What tools/equipment do they use? Various machines and equipment, automatic production lines as well as hand tools. What do you need to succeed? You need initial training or a specific course, fast reactions and physical fitness.
