Who are they and what do they do? A fire prevention officer sees to fire prevention within the respective organisation. May also be known as a fire prevention technician. At a higher grade, s/he may be known as a fire prevention inspector, particularly in organisations where there is a particular danger of fire. Duties then may include examining the reasons for any actual outbreak of fire.

What are the activities of the job? Adherence to fire prevention regulations and preparation of the internal fire prevention regulations. S/he proposes changes in technological procedures from the perspective of fire prevention. S/he organises fire prevention training.

Where is it done and under what conditions? Both on the normal office premises and in factories or workshops, warehouses and other premises of the organisation.

What tools/equipment do they use? Information technology and other office equipment.

What do you need to succeed? You need a certificate of secondary education, technological aptitude and a systematic approach to work. The professional qualification for a fire inspector is tested by official tests and may be certified by the issue of a special certificate. The qualification may be acquired also in the secondary school branch of study of fire protection. Those who complete their studies in this field may continue at certain universities, which provide the qualification also with specialisation in fire protection. The fire inspector's work requires intelligence, the ability to observe, evaluate and assess. Appropriate technical thinking and good organisational skills are desirable.
