Who are they and what do they do? The car service worker's work includes a wide range of auxiliary work in car maintenance and repair activities.

What are the activities of the job? The work includes: washing, greasing and waxing body of the car, and carrying out regular repairs - e.g. replacements of fender flaps, removing electrical installation components, replacement of exhaust pipes, removing and fixing of wheels, tyres and air tubes, balancing of wheels, car interior cleaning, washing, shampooing, waxing and polishing of car bodies and motors, handling of car washing lines, spraying of motor and chassis, greasing according to a specified schedule (grease plan), discharging and changing the oil in motors, gear-boxes and wheel-drive assemblies, incl. treatment and replacement of air/oil filter cartridges, anticorrosive coating inside car body cavities, spraying of chassis and lower bodies by protective agents, replacement of bulbs, batteries, reflecting glass elements, brake lining and other easily replaceable parts

Where is it done and under what conditions? This job is typically done in and outside service stations, small and large car repair shops where there may be unpleasant aspects of the work environment such as grease, objects that are hard to reach, and, sometimes, changing weather conditions.

What tools/equipment do they use? Among the most frequently used tools are : mechanic's hand tools and instruments, e.g. wrenches, screwdrivers, grease guns, gauges, circuit-testing detectors, diagnostic instruments, washing and cleaning agents. You also need to be good with your hands.

What do you need to succeed? Vocational training, manual skills, technical imagination, patience and accuracy.
