Who are they and what do they do? The task of a foreign exchange clerk is to provide foreign exchange services to clients and process cash transactions in the national and foreign currencies. If he/she has the ability, may also be a manager or the owner of the company, and run his/her own foreign exchange office.

What are the activities of the job? Foreign exchange operations both in the domestic and foreign currencies, based on customers' wishes - informing clients about the possibilities and conditions for buying and selling foreign currencies - handling cash in the exchange office - recording all foreign exchange transactions and comparing records with the actual state of cash, keeping prescribed records about the operations carried out, making deposits of money and documents entrusted to him/her as prescribed - checking whether the money being accepted is genuine, valid and intact - if the clerk is also the owner of the exchange office, s/he will also need to purchase sufficient amounts of the national and foreign currencies, and manage his/her foreign exchange company (i.e., for example keeping accounts, communication with the tax authorities, etc).

Where is it done and under what conditions? In banks and exchange offices, the foreign exchange office clerk is behind a counter and screen. The work environment has no particular problems, except the possibility of shift-work.

What tools/equipment do they use? Bill-counting devices, a computer.

What do you need to succeed? You need to have completed secondary education with a school-leaving certificate; you also need concentration, precision, arithmetical skills, and reliability.
