Who are they and what do they do? Glassworkers make products using blown, solid, pressed or other types of glass.

What are the activities of the job? Shaping glass products by extracting molten glass, by blowing it into shape with or without a mould - free-hand forming, - blowing Christmas decorations - shaping glass components for complicated glass products such as ears, handles, spouts and assembling the final products - making glass figures by blowing or out of solid glass, using stained glass, working in cooperation with designers - free hand shaping of figures - making decorative glass products by hand or machine, pressing and finishing by hand - joining components in a flame over a burner - extension, contraction, shaping and final adjustment of the product - making glass products for technological and laboratory use (test tubes, thermometers, glass tube systems, etc.)

Where is it done and under what conditions? In factories and glass workshops, where high temperatures, dust and dirt must be expected.

What tools/equipment do they use? Blowpipes, furnaces, presses, and machines for glass blowing and shaping, tools for freehand work, and their own their own hands.

What do you need to succeed? You need vocational training, manual skill, fitness, aesthetic sense, spatial perception, good eyesight and good lungs for blowing the glass.
