Who are they and what do they do? The hand embroiderer makes various kinds of embroideries using different stitches and hand embroidery techniques.
What are the activities of the job? Uses bead embroideries, letters, emblems, patterns, etc. according to an artist's design, his/her own design or according to historical originals. A skilful embroiderer also restores museum embroideries, historically valuable or folk embroideries, and historical (e.g. Gobelin) tapestries.
Where is it done and under what conditions? Mainly at home.
What tools/equipment do they use? Needles, and other instruments and devices for delicate embroidery work.
What do you need to succeed? You need initial training, concentration, manual skills, patience, creativity and aesthetic awareness.
