Who are they and what do they do? The job of a pedicurist or manicurist is professional foot (pedicure) and hand (manicure) care, in particular care of nails. They may also be self-employed

What are the activities of the job? These include lacquering, cutting and polishing nails - hand massages - removing pressure sores, callous and hard corns - skin softening - washing feet and other foot and hand care for the customer - special baths.

Where is it done and under what conditions? In pedicure treatment clinics, cosmetic saloons, spa and health care facilities, hairdressing salons, behind the scenes at film studios and theatres and in private households. They may also be employed in department stores and other retail shops. You will come into contact with various chemical substances in carrying out the job.

What tools/equipment do they use? The most common are scissors, files, clippers and your own their own hands.

What do you need to succeed? You need vocational training or a related course, manual skill, cleanliness, a cultivated appearance and manners, ability to deal with people, and good eyesight.
