What are the activities of the job? Excavating the holes and foundations for the telephone poles and towers, fixing and connecting cables, switchboards & other equipment and earthing them. They climb and work overhead on poles, ladders or other structures.

Where is it done and under what conditions? This work is carried out largely outdoors, and working overhead and at a height is part of the job as well as working outside normal office hours.

What tools/equipment do they use? Craft hand tools and measuring instruments. They may also use heavy excavating equipment and other machinery.

What do you need to succeed? You nee vocational training, technical understanding, and the ability to react quickly, as well as manual dexterity.
