Who are they and what do they do? His/her job usually includes manufacturing, adjustment, repair, renovation and maintenance of products based on electronics.

What are the activities of the job? The appliances worked on typically consist of consumer electronic products (i.e. TV & wireless sets, tape recorders, VCRs, music boxes, slot machines used for gambling, etc.), office equipment (e.g. copiers, calculators), automated systems (e.g. various sensors and controllers), telecommunications and security equipment (e.g. fire detectors, intrusion alarm systems, switchboard registers, etc.), transmitting equipment (e.g. TV/radio studio equipment, or systems used by interpreters), measuring and laboratory instruments (e.g.. voltmeters, oscilloscopes, frequency generators, potentiometers, humidity-meters), medical systems (pacemakers, electrocardiographs, electroencephalographs), control systems and instrumentation (e.g. in the chemical, textile, pulp & paper industries, numerically controlled [NC] or computer controlled machine tools), telecommunications and security equipment, transmitting equipment, measuring, laboratory & medical instruments, control systems of various kinds.

Where is it done and under what conditions? I In various environments, where the relevant electronic installations are located (i.e. workshops, factories, offices and households). Exposure, in some cases, to noise and dirt are unavoidable.

What tools/equipment do they use? Usually various electrical instruments, testers, solders, pliers and screwdrivers, etc.

What do you need to succeed? You need vocational training, reliability, concentration at work, fast judgement and ability to learn.
