Who are they and what do they do? The task of a forestry machine operator is to do woodcutting, i.e. felling, and trimming, as well as transport of trees and wood.

What are the activities of the job? Forest regeneration and setting up tree nurseries, forest watering, application of fertilisers and spraying. He/she also maintains and repairs the machines and equipment he/she uses.

Where is it done and under what conditions? Outdoors where the weather can be bad and there can be risks to avoid while felling trees.

What tools/equipment do they use? Power saw, ropes for wood gathering, tractors, ploughing machines and other machines and equipment.

What do you need to succeed? You need initial training or a specific course (a test must be passed for hand power saw operation), manual skills and a feeling for nature and the environment.
