Who are they and what do they do? The music director manages the preparation and performance of an opera or musical.

What are the activities of the job? He/she selects actors for particular roles, discusses the role with the actors, leads them during a rehearsal. He/she also manages the recording of the sound track of a film, or of a musical work on TV or radio, and the recording of sound effects.

Where is it done and under what conditions? In theatres (especially for opera, or ballet), concert halls, and recording or film studios. Work outside of usual working hours must be expected.

What tools/equipment do they use? Musical and theatrical scores, musical instruments, recording equipment, recording studios, and the spoken word

What do you need to succeed? You need an artistic/musical university education, musical talent, organisational ability, a certain creative ability, ability to deal with people.
