Who are they and what do they do? The task of a weir and dam operator is to operate, maintain and repair the equipment of river dams, locks and weirs.

What are the activities of the job? He/she observes the quality of water in reservoirs and tributaries, controls the hygiene protection zones, makes different measurements and surveys and keeps records of the results. Sometimes he/she operates small hydro-electric power plants. He/she also maintains the vegetation on water structures, and arranges for work to be done in case of floods and ecological disasters.

Where is it done and under what conditions? In the areas around water structures. Changing weather conditions must be taken into account.

What tools/equipment do they use? Different machines and equipment, measurement technology and tools of the job.

What do you need to succeed? You need to have completed secondary education, have fast reactions and an understanding of technology.
