Who are they and what do they do? The task of the cab/taxi dispatcher is to take the phone bookings from customers and distribute them to the cab drivers in the network.
What are the activities of the job? Answering the phone, relaying the customers' orders to the drivers by phone or radio, checking which drivers are available and where they are, if necessary, and setting up the time and place of the meeting.
Where is it done and under what conditions? The headquarters of the company (an office room). Of course taxi/cab dispatchers work shifts, sitting down the whole time, with headphones on, writing down the details related to the orders.
What tools/equipment do they use? Headphones, audio dispatching equipment, mobile phones and mobile phone networks, maps to check out the routes or give advice to drivers who lose their way.
What do you need to succeed? You need to have completed secondary education (high school or vocational level); ability to handle communication equipment switching, if necessary, between clients and drivers; you also need to work quickly and politely.
