Who are they and what do they do? The dog trainer trains dogs to be obedient. This training aims at breeding dogs to be guard dogs or to detect drugs, guns or criminals, as well as to protect a person.
What are the activities of the job? Teaching obedience with simple orders, for example not to accept food from others than the trainer etc.; rewarding and punishing a dog when it is not obedient; improving its physical condition; getting it to learn allegiance towards its master.
Where is it done and under what conditions? Mainly in open indoor areas so that dogs can run.
What tools/equipment do they use? Special clothes for the trainer in order to protect him/her from the bite of a dog, a whistle, feedstuff, objects which are used by trainer to teach obedience. It is a difficult occupation and may sometimes be dangerous as well.
What do you need to succeed? A dog trainer should attend seminars on training of dogs. It is important for the trainer to love dogs and not to panic when things go wrong.
