Who are they and what do they do? Debt collectors collect payments and perform clerical duties associated with these collections.

What are the activities of the job? Telephoning or writing to customers to collect money or arrange for later payments; tracing addresses of customers and paying visits to collect debts; noting amounts collected; recommending legal action when payment cannot be otherwise obtained.

Where is it done and under what conditions? Mainly in offices or similar rooms but also on the debtors' premises. Sometimes this may mean facing hostility or aggression.

What tools/equipment do they use? Information technology, telephone, fax, and possibly other office equipment.

What do you need to succeed? You need higher education, patience, good communication skills, and a persuasive manner.
