Who are they and what do they do? A technologist determines and specifies the technological aspects of production processes.

What are the activities of the job? His/her task includes determining technological procedures for the production of different food products - determining the organisation, procedure and technical conditions of production - determining the requirements for purchase of equipment and machines used in production and operation - itemisation of the amounts and types of raw materials, monitoring quality - supervising the production.

Where is it done and under what conditions? In offices and food industry factories, where contact with fats, high temperatures, vapours, chemical substances and sometimes shift work must be expected.

What tools/equipment do they use? Computers and office equipment, the spoken word, sometimes measurement and control technology.

What do you need to succeed? You need secondary, higher or university education in a subject related to the food or chemical industry, technical understanding, imagination, organisational abilities and precision.
